    Skype functionality coming to PSP

Sony's CES website suggests update is on the way.

    Skype for PSP

Sony's CES 2008 section of its website has revealed that the PSP is to be updated with Skype functionality. Although offering little info, Skype support is clear to see in a list of things you can do with a PSP.

"Call friends, talk trash to fellow gamers or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system," states the Sony website.

Presumably we can expect an announcement and further details on Skype integration during CES, which runs January 7-10.

Download PSP Beats through your PS3

pspfanboy.com writes: Okay, so maybe you don't have a Windows PC that is capable of running the PlayStation Network downloader. That's okay. You may have a Mac, or you might be running Linux -- or you're just too darn afraid to install a new program on your computer. Whatever the reason, there is an alternative ... provided you have a PS3.

    1. Visit the PLAYSTATION Store on any computer. Complete purchase of Beats, but do not download it.
    2. Log in to your PS3 using the same PSN account as the one used to purchase Beats.
    3. Go to PLAYSTATION Network on the XMB. Click on Account Management.
    4. Click on Transaction History.
    5. Then, click on Download List. You will see Beats on this list.
    6. Download to your PS3. Connect your PSP via USB and install your new favorite PSP game.

Hope this helps the few of you that simply cannot access the Store on your computer. If you're without a PS3 and a Windows PC, you're in tough luck for now. Why not just buy the game at a friend's house?

Warhawk - No Sharing Allowed - PS3 Network Download

Sony has made it official that the release of Warhawk on the PS3 download store will not enable game sharing.

Many were hopeful that Warhawk on the PS3 via the digital store download would allow for players to share the game with friends. This has been speculated for quite some time.

It seems though that Warhawk will be the first game which will not allow PS3 game sharing as a feature.

All other downloadable games on the PS3 feature game sharing with up to five PS3 consoles. Warhawk will not be one of them.

The game will be selling for $40 on the PlayStation Network for the PS3 and is currently available for purchase and download as of right now.

The $60 retail version of Warhawk for the PS3 which will some with a Bluetooth headset should be in stores by tomorrow.

When you purchase the game it is clear by stating that the game will only be playable through the PlayStation Network account that purchased the game, and only on one machine in a 24-hour period.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE - Hands On Impressions!

The boys over at sdtekken.com have posted their first hands on impressions of the newly released Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Online - (Japanese Version)!

Sounds like it works better than what most of us feared as long as you aren't playing between continents... and it also sounds like within the same region or locally it plays pretty well. The suggestion of a hard-wired connection for your PS3 for better performance is probably a good idea for this type of game as well if you are able.

    PS3 firmware 1.90 - PSP firmware 3.52

Sony has sneakily unleashed new firmware updates for both PSP and PS3 users in the middle of the night. PSP gets a measly .01 update, bringing the system to version 3.52. Downloadable through System Update, this patch simply adds "revisions to strengthen security" and increases the number of games that can be played from the PlayStation Network. Hopefully, a sign of further PS1 games to download?

The PS3 receives a far more significant update in its 1.90 firmware:

    * Wallpapers. No more generic XMB background for you! Better start downloading some high-res images.

    * Emoticons in messages.

    * Support for text entry with simplified and traditional Chinese characters has been added.

    * Games in the XMB can be sorted.

    * Video options can be adjusted while watching a DVD/Blu-ray Disc.

    * Eject a disc using the controller (but you still have to get up to pick up the disc).

    * Finally: No need to plug in the controller to update.

Although this update doesn't offer everything we've been clamoring for, it still has a few neat features. Let's hope Sony's unafraid to provide something truly meaningful (such as in-game XMB access) in firmware 2.0.
